Michelle , who is affectionately known as Mrs Moly, grew up in Belrose, attending school at Belrose Public and Davidson High. She started dancing at the age of 6 and was first taught by Valerie Smith at the age of 8. She has learnt many styles of dance including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and has been a member of various Eisteddfod and performance groups.
Michelle believes in the benefit of dance exams, having completed many exams in most styles, with excellent results. Michelle has also undertaken teaching exams, passing with Distinction, and is a qualified teacher in both Tap (FATD) and Jazz (CDA).
Michelle's passion is Tap, and in 2000 she successfully auditioned and performed at the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, choreographed by Dein Perry. Michelle's other passion is Rugby League. In 1990, Michelle became the first female Rugby League referee in the Manly-Warringah District, and was invited to several events, as an ambassador for Women in League.
In 1999, Michelle was a member of the first Valerie Smith Stage School USA Tour, performing at Disneyland and Las Vegas, and attending several classes in West Hollywood. She also attended the tour to Queensland in 2006 and looking forward to attend the next USA tour later this year.
Michelle began teaching at Valerie Smith Stage School in 1992, as an assistant teacher, and has been a permanent fixture of the teaching staff ever since. Michelle is a mother to two beautiful children, both of whom have danced (and continue to dance) with the school.
