Jazz Ballet
(including C.D.A exam preparation)Jazz is a more energetic form of dance. We follow the C.D.A syllabus and encourage our students to take exams every 2nd year. This ensures each student is progressing in their dancing skills and techniques whilst they enjoy keeping fit to the latest music. VSSS caters for students from 3 years to adults.
Ballet
(including R.A.D exam preparation)Classical ballet is the foundation of dance. A more graceful, elegant and controlled form of dance. Ballet is an important base to all dancing technique. Classical ballet tuition creates correct posture and flexibility for all forms of dance. VSSS follows the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D) syllabus from 3yrs through to majors.
Tap
(including F.A.T.D exam preparation)Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer's shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be musicians. This is a fun, exciting form of dance.
Contemporary can be fluid, flowing, and contracted movements. Contemporary dance can somtimes be described as expressive dance. VSSS caters for all ages.
Musical theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called simply, "musicals". At VSSS we use dance and animation in our musical theatre.
Hip Hop
(including Boys only Hip Hop)Hip-hop dance refers to social or choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. This includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping which were developed in the 1970s by Black and Latino Americans. VSSS accommodates all ages and we pride ourselves on our large groups of boys.
Lyrical dance is a dance style that combines elements of ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. The name lyrical comes from the word "lyrics" because dancers use the lyrics of a song or instrumental music to inspire them to do certain movements or show expression.
