Arna Elmes

Born and raised in Brisbane Arna, as a child, learnt ballet, tap and contemporary. After finishing high school, she studied dance full-time at QUT graduating in 1987 with an Associate Diploma of Arts in Dance. As a professional performer Arna has enjoyed working in Theatre acting as well as Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Musical theatre styles of dance.

Arna has been teaching many forms of dance and movement to people of all ages (2yrs- 62yrs) for over 20 years. She has taught in primary and secondary schools, colleges, dance schools, theatre companies, churches and corporate businesses: creating and directing various workshops, short courses and technique studies.

As a choreographer Arna has worked in both Pro/AM and Professional settings. For 10 years she was resident choreographer for Harvest Rain Theatre Company, choreographing musicals and pantomimes - such as Guys and Dolls, Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Lord Mayor’s Christmas Pantomime, Godspell, Bye Bye Birdie, Pirates of Penzance, What’s Christmas Without A Family…..

This is Arna’s 2nd year teaching ballet for the Valerie Smith Stage School (where her 4 children also learn dancing).
